We work in 136 countries and territories, reaching over one million children, young people, families and caregivers each year.

SOS Medical Centre has been providing quality healthcare services in Liberia since its establishment in 2005. To strengthen its service offerings, the medical center seeks to recruit a highly qualified Internal Medicine Specialist to enhance specialized medical care and improve patient outcomes. Currently, the facility has been operating with dedicated medical team, and the addition of an internal medicine specialist will significantly improve the diagnosis and management of complex medical conditions.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

The Internal Medicine Specialist will be responsible for the following:

 

Clinical Duties:

  • Diagnose and manage a wide range of medical conditions affecting adults, including cardiovascular, respiratory, gastrointestinal, renal, and endocrine disorders.
  • Provide evidence-based treatment and follow-up care to inpatients and outpatients.
  • Oversee critical care management and coordinate care for patients with multi-system diseases.
  • Guide general practitioners and physician assistants in managing complex cases.

Capacity Building & Training:

  • Provide clinical mentorship and continuous medical education (CME) sessions to general practitioners, physician assistants, nurses, and other healthcare staff.
  • Assist in developing treatment protocols and standard operating procedures for internal medicine services

 

 

Administrative & Leadership Roles:

  • Collaborate with hospital management in the development of new service lines related to internal medicine.
  • Participate in hospital rounds, medical audits, and quality assurance activities.
  • Provide expert advice on patient care policies

Requirements:

  • Medical Degree (MD) from a recognized university.
  • Specialized postgraduate residency training in Internal Medicine
  • Valid medical license delivered by the Liberia medical and dentist council (LMDC)
  • Minimum of five (5) years post-specialization clinical experience in internal medicine.
  • Proven experience in hospital leadership, clinical mentorship, and medical education.
  • Excellent diagnostic skills, decision-making abilities, and commitment to high standards of patient care.
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and organizational skills.
