SOS Children’s Villages is an independent, locally registered, child-focused, social development non- governmental organization with a strong reputation for providing quality care and protection, education, and health needs for vulnerable children. Since its inception in 1991, SOS Children’s Villages Uganda has reached over 12,000 children, youths, and adults directly and indirectly to become empowered and self-reliant to contribute significantly to the needs of their families and communities. SOS Children’s Villages works in partnership with a number of Donors, Foundations, Corporate entities (Finance Institutions, Insurance Companies) and the Private Sector that support her work throughout Uganda.
SOS Children’s Villages Uganda is seeking a qualified National candidate to fill the following position
Job Summary
The National Director leads, manages and develops the National Association (NA) as its chief executive, ensuring effective delivery of programmes and services to children and young people, families and communities within the frame of the international SOS Children’s Villages organization’s vision, mission, values and strategy. Through seeking governmental subsidies and funding, international/national grants as well as through fundraising he/she maximises the financial self-sufficiency of the National Association (and the ability to financially support other National Associations) according to the potential in the country. In addition, the job incumbent ensures the effective overall direction, operations and performance of the National Association (NA), by developing and executing core programme and financial strategies that lead to the sustainability of the organization. Furthermore, the National Director leads and develops the NA with the support from leadership (Board and Management), to ensure effective delivery of programmes and services to programme participants.

Knowledge, skills, qualifications, abilities and behavioral competences:
A visionary and values-driven leader with a Master’s degree in Business, Human Resource Management, Law, Public Policy, or Social Sciences at least 10 years of senior leadership experience in development work, deep expertise in child rights and protection, proven capacity in policy advocacy, governance, program innovation, and resource mobilization, with a strong record in building high-performing, multicultural teams, ensuring child safeguarding compliance, engaging effectively with boards, government and donors, and demonstrating excellent strategic, communication, and operational leadership skills, fluency in English, and proficiency in local Ugandan languages an added advantage.

This position involves working with an INGO committed to children and human rights and is subject to strict safer recruitment checks. The successful candidate will be required to complete safer recruitment checks including police and reference checks to help verify their suitability to work for SOS CV. In addition to candidates’ ability to perform the duties of the post, in the selection process will be also explored the motivation and approach of the candidate to safeguarding.
