Who we are

 

SOS Children’s Villages Ethiopia is an International Non-governmental organization and a member of SOS Children’s Villages International Federation. We started our humanitarian work in Ethiopia with the opening of our first Village in Mekelle, Northern part of Ethiopia in 1974. Since then, we have expanded our programs to different regions where there are significant needs for intervention and where we believe we can work in partnership with all relevant actors to bring sustainable positive outcomes for children’s and young people.

 

Today, we have grown significantly to meet the persistent challenges that confront Ethiopian children who have lost parental care and those that are at risk of losing their parental care. Working in close collaboration with international donors, local government and community based organizations across seven program locations; we aspire that every child grows up with love, respect and security.

Position Summary

 

Under the overall supervision of the National Procurement, logistics, and liaison Manager, the Intern Procurement Officer will work closely with our experienced procurement team, gaining exposure to functions such as Procurement, vendor management, supply chain procedures, contract negotiations, purchase orders, and delivery management

The incumbent must carry out his/her duties following the SOS Children's Villages in Ethiopia Safeguarding policies and regulations, the Code of Conduct, the values-based competency frame “Living our Values” and any further international and local regulation that influences safeguarding at SOS Childrens Vilage's in Ethiopia.

Your role?

  • Assist in handling clerical activities of procurement processes
  • Arrange and properly document procurement-related documents
  • Participate in performa invoice collection.
  • Facilitate signing procurement documents such as evaluations, minutes, purchase orders, etc.
  • Support in checking the consistency of procurement documents before printing and submission to the finance unit.
  • Support in the preparation, organizing, arrangement, and printing of procurement and other associated documents to be submitted to the finance unit;
  • Ensure that goods and supplies are procured and delivered in line with the quantity, quality, and specifications stated in the purchase order.

Job Requirements

 

Must Criteria

 

Education

  • Degree/Diploma in Logistics & supply chain management, or a related discipline.   
  • Recent graduate of year 2023 or 2024.                               

Competencies – Knowledge, Skills, Abilities 

  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Sound understanding of procurement procedures.
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office, primarily Excel.
  • Quick learner with a keen interest in procurement and supply chain.
