PROJECT INTERNS

SOS Children’s Villages Malawi is a member association of SOS Children’s Villages International, a global child-focused organization working to ensure that every child grows up with the love, care, protection, and support they need to develop to their full potential. SOS Children’s Villages Malawi has been operating since 1994 and implements programmes in Blantyre, Lilongwe, Mzuzu, and Chikwawa (Ngabu).

The organization implements Family Strengthening Programmes aimed at supporting vulnerable children, youth, and families through child protection, education, health, economic empowerment, and building the capacity of community structures to ably support the community family strengthening community systems to support community development initiatives. In this context; SOS Children’s Villages Malawi seeks to engage (2 Project Interns) to support the Family Strengthening Iceland project implementation in Chikwawa District.

Duration of Assignment:           Four (4) months, from August to November 2026.

Duty Station:                                Ngabu, Chikwawa.

Application Requirements:       Candidates should be those residing in Ngabu, Chikwawa.

Reporting lines:                           Field Officer.

Purpose of the Internship:

The placement aims to provide learning experience while supporting project employees in the implementation of Family Strengthening activities within target communities. They will support project delivery, data management, community engagement, monitoring, and beneficiary support while acquiring important project managements skills

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in planning and implementation of community-based project activities.
  • support in organizing and facilitating community training, meetings, awareness campaigns, and community dialogues on aimed at addressing children needs
  • Support home visits to enrolled families to identify family needs, and provide mentorship on implementation of the plans.
  • Support provision of mentorship to families aimed at addressing the identified needs
  • Support the development and guide the implementation of Family Development Plans under the guidance of the Project Officer
  • Support data collection, entry and updating of program databases.
  • Support filling and documentation of project records.
  • Documentation of activity report on the progress of different activities
  • Adhere to the code of conduct, child safeguarding policy and other relevant policies
  • Support any other duties assigned by the field officer.

  • Qualification and Experience
  •  
  • The suitable candidates must have the following minimum qualifications and attributes;
  1. Degree in Community Development, Development Studies, Social Science, Social Work, Agriculture, and any related Social Sciences field from a reputable institution of higher learning. Those with an Advanced Diploma from well recognized institutions may be considered upon satisfying other requirements.
  2. Should have good communication and reporting skills.
  3. Should be computer literate
  4. Should be able to work in a team.
